For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup water warm
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

For the filling:

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • ½ cup cabbage finely chopped
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions
 

Prepare the dough:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  • Add flour and vegetable oil, and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch. Mix well.

  • Place the buns on parchment paper squares and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Steam the baozi:

  • Bring water to a boil in a steamer. Place the buns in the steamer basket, leaving space between them.
  • Steam the buns for 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Serve hot.
