Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix the wet ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine the dry ingredients:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
    3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt

Add the chocolate chips:

  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
    2 cups chocolate chips

Bake the cookies:

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.

Cool and serve:

  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, underbake slightly and let them cool on the baking sheet.
Store in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
