Ingredients
 
 

For the Burger Patties:

  • ½ lb ground beef 80% lean for juiciness
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Special Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • ½ teaspoon white vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

For Assembly:

  • 2 sesame seed burger buns split and toasted
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • ½ cup iceberg lettuce shredded
  • 5 slices dill pickle slices
  • ¼ cup onion finely diced

Instructions
 

Prepare the Special Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, vinegar, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth. Add salt to taste. Set aside.

Shape and Season the Patties:

  • Divide ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into thin patties. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook the Patties:

  • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Place a slice of American cheese on two of the patties in the last minute of cooking to let it melt.

Assemble the Burger:

  • Spread a layer of special sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Add shredded lettuce, a few pickle slices, and some diced onions. Place a plain patty on top, followed by the cheeseburger patty. Add more lettuce, sauce, pickles, and onions, then top with the other half of the bun.
    1/2 cup iceberg lettuce, 5 slices dill pickle slices, 1/4 cup onion

Serve Immediately:
