Ingredients
 
 

  • 10 ounces Ribeye steak 1-inch thick, or New York strip steak
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon Garlic powder optional
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable oil or butter
  • ¼ cup Ketchup for serving

Instructions
 

Prepare and Season the Steak:

  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
    10 ounces Ribeye steak, 1/2 teaspoon Salt, 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder

Cook the Steak:

  • Heat oil or butter in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
    1 teaspoon Vegetable oil
  • Place the steak in the skillet, pressing it down for an even sear.
  • Cook the steak for 6-7 minutes on the first side until a dark crust forms.
  • Flip and cook the other side for an additional 6-7 minutes or until the steak reaches 160°F (71°C) for well-done.

Serve:

  • Transfer the steak to a plate, let it rest for a few minutes, then serve with ketchup in a small bowl on the side.
    1/4 cup Ketchup
