Authentic German Currywurst Recipe

Ingredients
- 4 German sausages bratwurst or bockwurst
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 crusty rolls or bread
Instructions
Cook the sausages:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes. Remove and slice into bite-sized pieces.4 German sausages, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Prepare the curry ketchup:
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of curry powder, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (if using), and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir well and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes until heated through. Assemble the currywurst:
- Place the sliced sausages on a plate and drizzle with the curry ketchup sauce. Serve with crusty rolls or bread on the side.4 crusty rolls
