Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 1 can 15 oz kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can 15 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Brown the beef:

  • In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

Sauté vegetables:

  • Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Add beans and tomatoes:

  • Stir in the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.

Season the chili:

  • Add chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

Simmer:

  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the chili simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Chili can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
