Authentic Brazilian Feijoada Stew Recipe

Ingredients
- 17.5 oz black beans soaked overnight
- 7 oz pork shoulder cut into cubes
- 7 oz beef brisket cut into cubes
- 7 oz smoked sausage sliced
- 1 onion chopped
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
For serving:
- Cooked white rice
- Orange slices
- collard greens Steamed
Instructions
Prepare the beans:
- Drain and rinse the soaked black beans. Set aside.17.5 oz black beans
Cook the meats:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the pork shoulder, beef brisket, and smoked sausage. Brown the meats on all sides.7 oz pork shoulder, 7 oz beef brisket, 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 7 oz smoked sausage
Add aromatics and beans:
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the onion is translucent.1 onion, 4 cloves garlic
- Add the black beans, bay leaves, and enough water to cover the beans and meat.2 bay leaves
Simmer the stew:
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 2 hours, or until the beans are tender and the meats are cooked through. Stir occasionally and add more water if necessary.
Season and serve:
