  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 10 minutes.

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
