Homemade Wild Berry Jam Recipe
Equipment
- Large pot
- Wooden spoon
- Canning jars
Ingredients
- 4 cups mixed wild berries blueberries, raspberries, blackberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 packet pectin optional, for thickening
Instructions
Prepare the Berries:
- Rinse the berries and remove any stems or leaves.4 cups mixed wild berries
Cook the Jam:
- In a large pot, combine the berries, sugar, and lemon juice.2 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 30-45 minutes, or until the jam thickens. Stir in pectin if using, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.1 packet pectin
Can the Jam:
- Pour the hot jam into sterilized canning jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace. Seal with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Cool and Store:
- Allow the jars to cool completely. Store in a cool, dark place.
